Furniture Upholstery & Reupholstery Services
All Furniture Services® provides professional furniture upholstery, reupholstery and upholstery repair services for sofas, couches, chairs, sectionals, recliners, cushions, headboards, benches and other residential and commercial furniture.
Whether your furniture needs a small upholstery repair, replacement of a damaged section, new cushions and padding, or complete reupholstery, our experienced upholsterers can evaluate the piece and recommend appropriate options based on its construction, condition, material and intended use.
Complete reupholstery. Partial reupholstery. Upholstery repair. Cushion rebuilding. Fabric and leather replacement.
Professional Furniture Reupholstery
Quality furniture does not necessarily need to be replaced because the upholstery is worn, outdated or damaged. Reupholstery can give an existing piece a completely different appearance while preserving a frame, design or piece of furniture you want to keep.
Furniture reupholstery may include removal of the existing material, inspection and repair of the underlying structure, replacement or adjustment of padding and support components, installation of new upholstery and reconstruction of decorative details.

Upholstery Repair
Complete reupholstery is not always necessary. When damage is limited to a particular area, upholstery repair or partial replacement may be a more practical option.
Depending on the material and damage, upholstery services may include:
- Tear and cut repair
- Open seam repair
- Hand and machine stitching
- Burn damage repair
- Loose button repair and replacement
- Tufting repair
- Damaged panel replacement
- Partial reupholstery
- Fabric and material replacement
- Wrinkle correction when practical
- Pilling and surface improvement
- Padding and cushion repair
Partial Reupholstery & Upholstery Panel Replacement
If only one area of a sofa, chair or other upholstered piece is damaged, it may be possible to replace that section rather than reupholster the entire item.
When available, an original replacement upholstery panel or cover may be obtained from the furniture manufacturer and installed. If the original material is available separately, a damaged panel may also be recreated using matching material.
When an exact replacement is unavailable, our upholsterers can evaluate other options based on the furniture design, existing material and location of the damage.
Cushion, Foam & Padding Replacement
Furniture can become uncomfortable or appear worn even when the upholstery material remains in good condition. Seat cushions, back cushions, foam and padding naturally compress and change with use.
Depending on the furniture, cushion and padding services may include:
- Foam replacement
- Additional cushion padding
- Soft, medium or firm foam options
- Dacron wrapping and replacement
- Feather and down filling
- Alternative cushion filling
- Attached cushion rebuilding
- Loose cushion replacement
- Seat and back cushion reshaping
Furniture Springs, Webbing & Support Repair
A sagging seat is not always caused by worn foam. The problem may involve springs, webbing, straps, support components or the furniture frame itself.
Our technicians can evaluate the internal support system and, when appropriate, repair or replace springs, jute webbing, straps, padding and related components.
If structural repairs are also required, visit our Furniture Repair & Restoration Services.
Fabric, Leather & Vinyl Upholstery
Choosing upholstery material involves more than selecting a color. Durability, texture, pattern, intended use, cleaning requirements and the construction of the furniture should all be considered.
Depending on the project, upholstery options may include fabric, leather, vinyl and other suitable furniture materials. Swatches may be available to help compare colors, textures and finishes before material is ordered.
For repair and color restoration of existing leather or vinyl, visit our Leather & Vinyl Furniture Repair Services.
Antique Furniture Reupholstery
Antique and sentimental furniture may require a different approach from ordinary reupholstery. Original materials, padding, springs, decorative details and construction methods may be important to the character of the piece.
Depending on the project, original upholstery or components may be preserved where practical, while damaged materials and internal support systems can be evaluated for repair or replacement.

How Much Fabric Is Needed for Reupholstery?
The amount of upholstery material required depends on the furniture dimensions, design, number of cushions, fabric width, pattern repeat, piping, matching requirements and other construction details.
As a general reference, upholstery estimates commonly assume approximately 54-inch-wide fabric without a visible pattern repeat. Pattern matching, directional designs, piping and other details may require additional material. Final yardage should be confirmed for the specific furniture and selected material before ordering.
Approximate Upholstery Fabric Yardage
| Furniture Type | Approximate Fabric |
|---|---|
| 2-Cushion Sofa | 16 yards |
| 3-Cushion Sofa | 18 yards |
| 6-Cushion Sofa | 22 yards |
| 2-Cushion Loveseat | 13 yards |
| 4-Cushion Loveseat | 17 yards |
| Wing Chair | 11 yards |
| Slipper Chair | 4 yards |
| Ottoman | 3.5 yards |
These quantities are general estimates only. Actual material requirements can vary substantially based on furniture dimensions, upholstery construction, fabric width, pattern repeat, matching and piping.
Repair or Reupholster?
Not every upholstery problem requires complete reupholstery. A torn seam, damaged panel, worn cushion or localized burn may sometimes be repaired individually. Furniture with extensive wear, deteriorated material or a desired design change may be a better candidate for complete reupholstery.
Photos of the entire furniture piece and damaged areas can help our team evaluate whether repair, partial reupholstery or complete reupholstery should be considered.
